Hong Kong is an international financial centre. It is an ideal place to learn international banking and finance. There are also ample opportunities in the financial sector of this city and the Greater Bay Area for students with the knowledge of international banking and finance to work. The Master of Science in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) Programme of Lingnan University is the unique programme to help you achieve these objectives.

The Programme focuses on banking and finance so as to equip students with modern knowledge and advanced problem-solving skills required in the banking and financial sectors. The MIBF is a truly international programme because it not only features an internationally oriented curriculum but also admits students from all over the world.  In the last few years after the pandemic, we attracted about 20 percent of our students from overseas countries like Colombia, France, Germany, Ghana, Italy, Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal, Switzerland, United States and Vietnam.  We also bring our students to Singapore, another international financial hub in Asia, for a co-curricular study tour with visits to International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Nanyang Technological University and so on.  In addition, the Programme is well connected with a number of overseas universities so that our students can exchange to and even earn double master degrees in those universities.

The Programme reflects the liberal arts education of the University as it includes a very rich variety of courses in areas like economics, finance, accounting, AI and big data for students to choose. Instructors consist of both renowned professors from academia as well as successful practitioners from the business sector.

Our Programme strikes a good balance between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Many of our instructors and speakers are seasoned senior professionals (at director level or above at renowned international financial institutions) in finance.  Students acquire hands-on experience by working on realistic projects and cases.

The host department, namely Department of Economics, is strong in research and scholarly activities. Lingnan University’s “Economics and Econometrics” subject is ranked 301-350 in the QS World Subject Ranking and among top 100 within Asia*.

The excellence of the Programme is proven by its popularity in applications, high quality of the student intakes, good opportunities for internships, satisfaction of the students and graduates, and the career development. In our recent graduate surveys, all surveyed graduates are satisfied with the quality of our programme and the value. And ninety-some percent of them would recommend the MIBF Programme to their friends.

For the above reasons, I sincerely invite you to apply to our MIBF Programme. I look forward to working with you together to achieve your goals.
