Congratulations to our elite alumni, Dr Guo Hangfei, for receiving £6.25 million UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Award
The Faculty of Business is proud to announce that Dr Guo Hangfei, our MPhil graduate and now a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Queen’s Business School, is leading a pioneering project that has been awarded a substantial funding of £6.25 million (equivalent to HK$64 million) from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the national funding agency investing in science and research in the United Kingdom. This significant achievement not only recognizes Dr Guo’s commitment to excellence but also demonstrates the exceptional capabilities of Lingnanian.
Dr Guo’s academic journey began with her MPhil studies at Lingnan University from 2009 to 2011, under the mentorship of Professor Leng Mingming, the Faculty Dean and an esteemed scholar in operations management. These formative experiences contributed to Dr Guo’s research acumen and deepened her understanding of supply chain management. After graduation, Dr Guo pursued further studies in Canada, where she obtained a PhD in Business from McMaster University. She subsequently held academic positions at the University of East Anglia and Queen’s University Belfast, where she now serves as a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management.
Dr Guo commented that “the awarded project ‘ReImagining Supply Chain Network Plus (RiSC+)’ will bring together a vast network of experts who can use their specialist knowledge to populate and render the complex systems of the UK’s fashion, critical mineral, and food supply chains.” The UKRI award underscores Dr Guo and her team’s innovation approach in tackling intricate supply chain issues, as well as their contribution to the economy.
Dr Guo’s success story sets a good example for our students and alumni and reaffirms our dedication to quality education. Her journey serves as an inspiration to many scholars, demonstrating the importance of diligence and persistence in achieving success on the global stage.
