Joint Humanitarian Entrepreneurship Summer Academy 2023
The Joint Humanitarian Entrepreneurship Summer Academy enhances student learning by challenging them with real world problems, at the same time creating positive impact in the community by developing solutions. The students will get to explore, understand, analyse, and design their projects in a way which maximizes their learning experience. The previous versions of the academy has created impact in communities in Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Uganda, and Mainland China. This year the academy will work on projects in Philippines and Bangladesh.
The core values of the program will revolve around creative expression, empathy, embracing ambiguity, visualising challenges, and synthesizing actionable ideas.
Projects
1. Disaster Reduction and Relief in Batangas, Philippines
- Investigation on Off-grid energy systems
- Flood and related risk reduction/prediction projects
2. Healthcare Accessibility in Remote Areas Bulacan, Philippines
- Investigation on Off-grid energy systems
- Flood and related risk reduction/prediction projects
3. Artisanal Rural Community Produce Isabela & Palanan, Philippines
- Rural produce currently comprises of Woven products (bags, hats), Food (cornicks, muscovado sugar, tomato jam, salt, white corn coffee), Beverages (wines made from locally planted fruits e.g. soursop, mango, strawberry etc.), Pottery (earthen pots).
- Investigation of success factors & application of Inclusive Business models to sustain local enterprises.

Philippines: 10-21 July 2023 (Pre-trip training sessions will be carried out in campus on 7-8 July 2023)
Program Details
This program will be free of charge. Lingnan students enrolled in the program will earn 3 credits in CLE9027 (Semester 3). Participants of the program will be selected via interviews.

Reminders
- Students enrolled in the programme will earn 3 credits in CLE9027 (Semester 3)
- Students enrolled in the programme must attend the pre-trip training in campus
- Students enrolled in the programme are required to pay HKD2000 deposit (Fully refundable after completion of the programme)
