Programme Committees

Programme and Curriculum Committee (PCC)

A PCC will be set up to monitor the Programme. It reports to the Department Board and to the PSC.

The terms of reference of the PCC are:

To take charge of the programme including programme design, and the implementation and review of the curriculum;
To liaise with teaching staff on Programme matters such as course offerings for each year;
To review admissions policy; and
To deal with all other matters related to the Programme.
To liaise with the Registry/School of Graduate Studies on all academic matters including review of academic regulations and examination matters

Membership of the Programme and Curriculum Committee：

Board of Examiners (BoE)

A BoE will be set up to oversee assessment and examination matters, and make recommendations of students for graduation.

The Terms of reference of the BoE are:

To maintain the academic standards of the Programme at a level appropriate to the type of award.
To approve examination question papers after considering the views and recommendations of External Academic Advisers*, where appropriate.
To maintain general supervision of the system of continuous assessment, where it applies.
To maintain the proper conduct of examinations.
To determine students' examination results.
To assess the progress of students and to report its decisions, including its recommendations for award classification, to the Postgraduate Studies Committee.
To consider appeals referred to it by the Registrar.

* Comments from External Academic Advisers should be used for future reference and forward planning purpose.

Membership of the Board of Examiners:

Chairperson: Programme Director(s) or his/her delegated representative
Members:
Dean concerned
Head of the Department of Philosophy or representative
Director of the HKCRC or representative
All staff involved with the setting and marking of any part of the examinations
Secretary: To be appointed by the Chairperson

Advisory Board

An Advisory Board will be set up to give advice on Programme matters.

Terms of Reference of the Advisory Board:

The Advisory Board will help plan and keep under review the following aspects of work, including future developments:

The level and length of the Programme and its courses in relation to local needs;
The relevance of the Programme and its courses in relation to local needs;
The prospects of local employment for graduates;
The adequacy of the equipment and other resources of the Programme for the fulfilment of local needs;
The development of teaching and other activities carried out jointly by the Programme and the appropriate sector of the community;
Investigation consultancy and other services given by the Programme;
The assistance which the community can give to further the objectives of the University in the subject concerned by way of practical training facilities, the provision of part-time teaching staff and equipment, the award of scholarships, student-fellowships, etc.

Staff-Student Consultation Committee (SSCC)

The terms of reference of the SSCC are:

To promote understanding between students and teaching staff
To consider feedback from students regarding teaching, learning, course evaluation, and issues of importance for enhancing teaching and learning quality
To review and monitor the learning and teaching quality assurance mechanisms and processes within the MAAIF Programme.
To formulate strategies in helping students to learn more effectively
To consider any other matters of concern to students
