Lecture Series on “This and That Waterloo”

For the past four years, the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute of Lingnan University and the China Economic Research Programme of Lingnan University have jointly organized a series of talks on the history of Hollywood Road, the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator and Walkway System, Bonham Strand and Nathan Road with the Hong Kong Museum of History. This year, we continue our passion for Hong Kong history by inviting different scholars to share with us interesting stories about “This and That Waterloo”.

11月27日　街角逸事

孫德榮先生、李金強教授及許楨博士分別以戰前油麻地公立醫局、林子豐家族和李小龍的故事作為出發點，述說窩打老道的街角逸事。

12月4日　華洋共處

黃紹倫教授、丁新豹博士及陳煒舜教授各自以劉定中、廖承志、葡裔殷商布力架和施玉麒―郭慎墀家族為題，回溯香港華洋共處之文化。

12月11日　助人自助

岑智明先生、馬冠堯先生及鄭宏泰博士將會由九龍城上帝古廟、九龍居民協會與九龍醫院，談到義德開拓九龍塘的故事，和大家述說港人助人自助的事跡，分享大城小動。

12月18日　繁華鬧市

吳俊雄博士、蔡利民博士及鄭宏泰博士會分別講述黃霑的「獅子山精神」、大火焚城的意外和嘉道理家族的故事，和大家一同看看香港是如何一步一腳印地成為繁華鬧市。
