My four years studying Business Psychology (BPSY) at Lingnan University have been a rewarding, transformative journey of personal growth. I feel privileged to have joined a warm BPSY community and am deeply thankful to all faculty members for their continuous guidance and support.

Built on interdisciplinary teaching, the BPSY programme offers rigorous psychological training to help us spot cognitive fallacies, decode workplace behaviours, and hone research skills. I cherish every moment spent on group projects. For example, when we were struggling to master complex statistical tools and felt completely lost, our professor gave a detailed explanation of how to use the tools and encouraged us to keep trying on our own. We were filled with immense pride when we finally drew meaningful conclusions from the data.

All our professors are dedicated and care about our academic progress as well as mental wellbeing. They are willing to patiently resolve my academic queries step by step, refining my logical thinking far beyond immediate problem-solving. With this encouragement, I have grown a lot, gaining greater confidence and clarity in my interests.

To me, BPSY is more than an academic qualification, it is an eye-opening journey that inspires curiosity and is well worth exploring for prospective students.

Looking back on my four years as an undergraduate at Lingnan University, I was fortunate to delve deeply into the field of Business Psychology. Rather than focusing only on the theories from textbooks, I learned to understand human nature, discern the logic behind behavior, grasp how personality influences our choices, and appreciate the importance of rational decision-making. Unlike traditional Psychology, the Business Psychology programme (BPSY) places greater emphasis on practical application and experimental exploration, transforming Psychology from theoretical concepts into a discipline that we can experience and apply on a daily basis. This educational opportunity has not only taught me how to navigate the various challenges of the future society, but also deepened my self-awareness, helping me grow into a better and more rational person.

My success would not have been possible without the BPSY teachers. They have provided me with boundless care and support, both academically and personally.

CHEN Wanxin (Class of 2025)

Studying Business Psychology (BPSY) helps me understand the different kinds of decision-making errors we make. It allows me to avoid psychological biases and make more rational choices in my daily life. It also clarifies my personality and individuality, aiding in the development of a better self-concept.

I think all my teachers in BPSY were very responsible. They cared about not only our studies but also our physical and mental health. I also met many meticulous peers dedicated to psychology research, and they inspired me a lot. I treasure my memories of student life with them like working on group assignments in the library, coding repeatedly in SPSS in the lab, and screaming with joy when we finally succeeded after over 20 attempts. Looking back, the final year of my undergraduate experience was the most stressful year for me, because on top of taking many major courses, I had to face the pressure of applying for my master’s degree and seeking internships. However, it was also the most rewarding year - I found the most suitable and efficient revision methods for myself, learned how to express ideas more richly in my essays, and progressed from handling the simplest part of group presentations to becoming a group leader.

Finally, I wish to thank my supervisor Dr. Bill Chan for his constant encouragement and support, as well as Prof. Onting Lo who helped me a lot with statistics in psychology. I am grateful for everything BPSY has given me, and I am proud that my undergraduate degree is from the loving family of Lingnan!

Frankly speaking, I wasn't expecting my learning at Lingnan to be such a wonderful experience before I joined our Business Psychology (BPSY) program. Being a member of this welcoming and scholarly community had changed me profoundly for the past four years. If I were to use only one word to describe my learning experience in our program, that would be "enrichment". Tomes concentrated into absorbable essence during the interactive lectures, peers with similar ambitious academic goals cheering for each other, the most supportive and professional instructors, etc. Everything I mention above is no mirage but means which now serves as resource that boosts my postgraduate studies, and I shall treasure it for the rest of my life. For those who are determined to join our BPSY program, remember that the key to success is always in your grasp.

My time studying Business Psychology at Lingnan University was both profoundly rewarding and intellectually fruitful. The program not only provided me with a comprehensive, research-based understanding of human behavior in workplace settings but also equipped me with practical frameworks to apply psychological principles to real-world organizational challenges. This included systematically processing complex information, making reasonable judgments and strategic decisions. All while maintaining a dual focus on enhancing employee well-being and optimizing organizational performance. What made the program truly special was its interdisciplinary flexibility. It enabled me to explore electives across psychology and other fields independently, which allowed me to tailor my studies to my growing interest in human resources management.

The faculty members of BPSY at Lingnan University played a pivotal role in shaping both my academic and personal growth. During office hours, they challenged me to think critically, pushing me to move beyond textbook theories and consider real-world applications. While beyond academics, their guidance helped me develop resilience. When I struggled with a research project on employee motivation, they taught me how to break down complex problems systematically. This approach I still use today in both professional and personal decisions. Looking back, the influence of my professors extended far beyond the classroom—they helped shape my intellectual curiosity, professional values, and even my aspirations for contributing to human-centered workplaces. The time I spent at Lingnan University was a rewarding and fruitful chapter of my life. I cannot thank Lingnan University and the Business Psychology program enough for all the support and encouragement I received. The program provides extensive and comprehensive training in Psychology, and expands psychological studies to more applied settings like managerial decision-making, occupational health, workplace dynamics, human resources management, etc. You can also take other elective courses in other branches of psychology and even other disciplines. At Lingnan, you are given the opportunity to customize your studies and maximize your study experience in different aspects, like internships, research projects, overseas exchange, community service-learning, and the list goes on. You are encouraged to think critically, analytically, independently, and from a broader perspective. The liberal arts education and great teachers and professors at the Business Psychology program ensure that students can graduate with success, passion, and transformation. I could not be more grateful for everything.

Studying Business Psychology at Lingnan University has been an incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience for me.
