On 29 August 2022, the School of Graduate Studies held the Briefing for Postgraduate Students to welcome new postgraduate students. In the 2022-23 academic year, the University welcomes over 1,800 new postgraduate students - from taught masters/ doctoral degree to MPhil and PhD students - from Hong Kong and around the world including the Mainland, Bangladesh, Chile, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, India, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey and the U.S., who will be joining Lingnan’s research and postgraduate studies community and commencing their journey of studies.

In his welcome speech, LU President Prof Leonard K Cheng called upon students to make the best of their education at Lingnan and to “seize every opportunity to learn”. “Lingnan is a closely-knit community of students and scholar-teachers, and we are all here to support you,” he says. “While we remain vigilant against the pandemic, we are optimistic that in this new academic year activities on campus can be held as usual, and we shall continue to review teaching and learning arrangements to ensure that our students received the best and most valuable learning experiences,” he added.

Under the theme “LingU, Links U”, the orientation campaign was held on site and online. New postgraduates were given not only a warm welcome to the University but also a brief account about the history and new development of the University, as well as an induction on the teaching/ learning and research support for their studies.
