Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies

As announced in the 2024 Policy Address, the Government has set up the Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS) starting from the 2025-26 academic year. The FTSS aims to attract meritorious local students to pursue further studies in areas of strategic priority for the development of Hong Kong.

In recognition of Lingnan University's contributions to Hong Kong's priority areas, the University Grants Committee (UGC) has allocated 20 scholarship places to Lingnan for each of the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years.

Approved Taught Postgraduate (TPg) Programmes for the Second Cohort (2026-27 Intake)

The UGC has selected the following TPg programmes to award scholarships to eligible local students admitted for the 2026-27 intake.

Eligibility

Applications are open to local students admitted to the approved programmes listed above for the 2026-27 intake. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their:

• readiness and ability to contribute significantly to the development of Hong Kong after graduation from the programme

• academic achievements

• professional qualifications

• relevant work experience

• achievements in other areas

• interview performance

   

Note: All awardees must, as a condition for receiving the scholarship, sign a written undertaking that upon graduation they will contribute to relevant industries/sectors through full-time employment or entrepreneurial activities either in Hong Kong or within the Greater Bay Area. Awardees will be required to a mandatory return no later than 12 months after the end of their last semester of studies under the relevant programmes, with

• (i) (for full-time employment) specific information on at least the name of employer, position held, job nature and salary level of the scholarship awardee or (for entrepreneurial activities) company name with business registration number, description of business nature and details of entrepreneurial activities conducted; and

• (ii) a one-page summary of the awardee's contributions to Hong Kong after graduation and its relevance to the programme pursued.

Scholarship awardees would be liable to refund of the scholarship amount in full to the University should there be any failure to complete the mandatory return in time or the provision of untrue information therein.

Restrictions

• Each student can receive the scholarship only once, either at a UGC-funded university or a self-financing university.

• Students who have previously received a scholarship under the Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme for another programme are ineligible for this scholarship.
   

Amount of Scholarships

Scholarship recipients will pay a minimum tuition fee equivalent to the prevailing rate of UGC-funded full-time degree programmes:

• HK$44,500 for the 2025–26 academic year

• HK$47,000 for the 2026–27 academic year
   

The scholarship will subsidise the tuition differences, subject to a maximum cap of HK$100,000 per student for the entire programme, regardless of the mode or duration of study. Students are responsible for covering any remaining costs.

Scholarship recipients who receive other financial support or scholarships specifically for tuition fee expenses must declare and provide relevant details to the University. To ensure no student receives financial support exceeding the tuition fee, the scholarship amount will be adjusted accordingly, ensuring effective use of public funds.

Scholarships will cover only the tuition fees for courses required to fulfil the programme’s graduation requirements. Additional credits beyond the required amount will not be subsidised.

How to Apply

Local students admitted to one of the approved TPg programmes for the 2026-27 intake will be invited by the respective Programme Office to submit applications for the scholarship. Applicants are required to:

1. Complete an application form detailing your academic achievements, professional qualifications, relevant work experience, and achievements in other areas;

2. Submit a personal statement outlining your commitment to contributing to the priority areas of Hong Kong and your plan to join relevant industries/sectors and stay in Hong Kong (or the Greater Bay Area) upon graduation; and

3. Declare if you are receiving any financial support from other sources for the purpose of meeting tuition fee expenses, and provide relevant details.
