副修中文 (Minor in Chinese Studies)

The Department of Chinese offers the Minor in Chinese Studies.

Students whose Major is in any programme* other than BA (Hons) Chinese may qualify for a Minor in Chinese Studies after successful completion of 15 credits of courses as detailed below:

必修科 Required Courses (6 credits)

CHI2105# Modern Chinese Literature 中國現代文學
CHI2113# Classical Chinese Literary History 古典文學史

選修科 Electives (9 credits)

3 other courses with course letter code of “CHI” listed under the BA (Hons) Chinese Programme curriculum
三科其他中文課程中以 “CHI” 作課程編號之科目

* A programme course taken by a student whose Major is BA (Hons) Chinese Literature, History and Philosophy cannot be counted in the Minor programme. Credits from any course can only be counted towards one programme.

# A student whose Major is BA (Hons) Chinese Literature, History and Philosophy is allowed to substitute 2 other courses with course letter code of ‘CHI’ listed under the BA (Hons) Chinese Programme Curriculum with the approval of the Chinese Department.

副修中文寫作 (Minor in Chinese Writing)

The Department of Chinese offers the Minor in Chinese Writing.

Students whose Major is in any programmes other than BA (Hons) Chinese may qualify for a Minor in Chinese Writing after successful completion of 15 credits of courses as detailed below:

必修科 Required Courses (3 credits)

CHI2114 Modes of Chinese Writing 各類文體習作

選修科 Electives (12 credits)

At least 2 out of the following writing courses (6 credits):

CHI3219 Creative Writing in Chinese 中文文學創作*

CHI3237 News Writing 新聞寫作

CHI3238 Media Writing 傳媒寫作

CHI4331 Chinese Documentary Writing: Public Relations and Advertising 中文文書寫作：公關與廣告

CHI4343 Special Topics in Chinese Writing 中文寫作專題

AND

2 other courses (6 credits) with course letter code of “CHI” listed under the BA (Hons) Chinese Programme curriculum

兩科其他中文課程中以 “CHI” 作課程編號之科目

*Note: The prerequisites of CHI3219 Creative Writing in Chinese 中文文學創作 are CHI2114 Modes of Chinese Writing and another CHI-coded writing course among CHI3237 News Writing, CHI3238 Media Writing, and CHI4331 Chinese Documentary Writing: Public Relations and Advertising.
