• From Product to Process: Rethinking Assessment in the Age of Generative AI

  Speaker: Prof. Jen Scott Curwood

  Key Focus Areas:

  • Introducing a Process-Oriented Framework: Present a technology-agnostic framework (Curwood et al., 2024) designed to understand and evaluate the process of GenAI-augmented student composition, shifting assessment focus from the final product to the learning journey.

  • Emphasising Authentic Assessment: Highlight the use of learner-AI dialogues and critical reflections as key artifacts to make student thinking visible and demonstrate their ethical, critical, and productive engagement with AI tools.

  • Applying Theory to Teacher Education: Examine the practical application of this framework in preparing future educators, equipping them with the skills and pedagogical models to integrate AI responsibly in their own classrooms.

• Fostering Global Classrooms: Using AI to Bridge the Linguistic Gap and Empower Non-Local Students.

  • A Hybrid Assessment Model: Differentiating between controlled, in-class exercises that validate core competencies and scaffolded, out-of-class projects that leverage AI as a collaborative tool.
