About BGS Lingnan University Chapter

The Beta Gamma Sigma Lingnan University Chapter was established in 2012. It recognizes and honors business students with outstanding academic achievements. BGS awards membership by invitation only to undergraduate students in their second year or above who have a cumulative grade point average (cGPA) in the top 10%, to graduate students in the top 10%, and to all doctoral candidates who have successfully defended their dissertation. The Lingnan University Chapter also honors business veterans with exceptional leadership as Chapter Honorees during the annual Induction Ceremony.

History of Beta Gamma Sigma

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is The International Business honor society founded in 1913. It recognized and honored top performing students from around the world in business schools accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). Lingnan’s Faculty of Business was among one of 900-plus schools of business worldwide which have earned accreditation from AACSB International.

Mission

To encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to cultivate and celebrate leadership and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members.

Objectives

The Society’s Mission is supported by four objectives. These include:

Encourage and honor academic achievement by students of business and management through chapters in business programs accredited by AACSB International
Develop Beta Gamma Sigma members as student and professional leaders, and celebrate continuing leadership and excellence
Foster in Beta Gamma Sigma members an enduring commitment to the founding principles and values of the Society: honor and integrity, pursuit of wisdom, earnestness, and service
Connect Beta Gamma Sigma student and alumni members to each other and to opportunities in their professional lives

Highest Honors Chapter

Lingnan University is thrilled to announce that the Faculty of Business has once again been recognised as the Highest Honors Chapter by Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) for the 2024-2025 academic year. This recognition is particularly meaningful as it highlights the Business Faculty’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
