Data Governance and Data Loss Prevention System

Data is essential asset of the University. Preventing data from leakage, loss, theft, destruction and unauthorized disclosure or access is one of the key tasks in data governance. The University has approved the policies and enforcement measures for properly handling and protecting sensitive and confidential data generated in the daily operations of the University.

On 1 Aug 2023, ITSC has implemented the Azure Information Protection (AIP) system and the Data Loss Prevention System (DLP) to assist the University members to classify, identify and protect the data files and emails in their daily operations. The AIP system allows users to select and apply classification labels to a document or email according to the sensitivity of the data inside the files or emails. The DLP system will detect and alert users if sensitive or confidential data is being sent without protection.
