SCEM Outstanding Performance Award

Purpose and Background

To recognize Sports Coaching and Event Management (SCEM) students’ outstanding academic and sports performance, the “Sports Coaching and Event Management – Outstanding Performance Award” (the Scholarships) will be established from 2025-26. 

The following regulations shall apply:

1. The Scholarships shall be known as “Sports Coaching and Event Management – Outstanding Performance Award”.
2. The Scholarships will be awarded to a maximum of six SCEM Year 4 students in each academic year. Minimum three quotas are reserved for local students. The value of each scholarship will be HK$15,000.

Eligibility and Criteria

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time Year 4 undergraduate students of the Bachelor of Social Sciences in SCEM.
2. Awardees should achieve outstanding academic performance with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 or above in Year 3.
3. If there are candidates of comparable academic merits, priority shall be given to students who have outstanding performance in sports achievements, extra-curricular activities, community services or other non-academic areas.

Logistics of Selection

1. The selection panel will consist of (1) the Dean of WJYSIS or his delegate, (2) the Programme Director of SCEM, and (3) one full-time teaching staff member of SCEM.
2. The application opens in September and the selection result announced in the December of the same year.
3. The scholarship will be disbursed after the final payment of the total tuition fee of HKD 200,000 has been made.

Role of awardees

The awardees should prepare to be a Sports Leader / Student-athlete to represent the programme to participate in sport activities and events and work as a Students Ambassador to promote the SCEM programme.
