Ruofei obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics and Information Technology from The Education University of Hong Kong, where she received the Postgraduate Students Publication Award for three consecutive years (2021–2024). She previously earned her Master of Arts in Language Studies at the City University of Hong Kong, graduating with distinction, and her Bachelor of Arts in English at Tongji University, where she was awarded multiple University Scholarships. She also holds a CertTESOL from Trinity College London.

Currently, Ruofei is a Lecturer at the Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL), teaching University English II, IELTS Preparation, and Professional Communication in English for Business. She has also designed innovative e-learning materials incorporating tools such as Kahoot! and Google Docs for collaborative learning, and conducted statistical analyses to ensure fairness in grading standards. She is also a coordinator of ELSS.

Ruofei is expertise in technology-enhanced learning implementation and theories, with an h-index of 21 and i10-index of 28. Her research interests include technology-enhanced language learning, chatbot-based learning, game-based learning, and self-regulated learning. She has published over 40 papers and book chapters, including 28 SCI/SSCI-indexed papers, in prestigious journals such as Computers in Human Behavior, Computer Assisted Language Learning, and Language Learning & Technology. She currently serves as an Assistant Editor for Computers and Education: Artificial Intelligence and Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence, and has been a reviewer for over 25 well-established journals. Ruofei has also been actively involved in academic service, serving as Deputy Chair of the Doctoral Student Forum at GCCCE 2023 and as a Program Committee member for conferences such as BESC and ICCE.
