Department of Government and International Affairs
Welcome to the website for the Department of Government and International Affairs. We are a group of scholars of international relations, political science and public administration. We make contributions to education and research in two areas. In
- China in the World we study the rise of China and its implication for international politics at both global and regional levels.
- Governance and Bureaucracy Lab we examine questions of citizen and bureaucratic behaviour, effective government and government and identity.
The Department offers a education and learning at the undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research postgraduate levels. The major in Government and International Affairs is part of Lingnan's inter-disciplinary Bachelor of Social Sciences degree programme, which is unique in Hong Kong. As such we cooperate closely with colleagues in our three sister departments, Psychology, Economics and Sociology & Social Policy. We offer a two Minors in Government and Politics and International Affairs, and are involved in teaching politics courses in the two Majors, Global Studies (GS) and Social and Public Policy Studies (SPPS). The Master of Arts in International Affairs provides postgraduate education and learning in international and comparative politics, international security, Greater China and issues including nationalism and political culture.
