Clusters
The Clusters offer students the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects and develop a broad, balanced foundation. These courses have no prerequisites. Students are given a choice of courses in the Clusters, namely “Creativity and Innovation”, “Humanities and the Arts”, “Management and Society”, “Science, Technology, Mathematics and Society”, and “Values, Cultures and Societies”.
Cluster Requirements
For Year 1 Intake from 2024 onwards, Year 2 Intake from 2025 onwards, and Senior Year Intake from 2026 onwards, students must complete 1 course from 4 different Clusters, in a total of 4 Cluster courses.
For Year 1 Intake in 2018 to 2023, and Senior Year Intake in 2019 to 2025, students are required to complete five total Cluster courses, one course from each Cluster.
Creativity and Innovation (CLA)
The aims of the Creativity and Innovation Cluster are to nurture students’ creative potential by exposing them to various fields (including arts, music, design, visual studies, business and others), and engaging them in a range of interdisciplinary activities. Courses in this cluster will examine a variety of creative activities across a range of domains. Students will engage with “big questions”, practice applying knowledge, intellectual and practical skills to new settings, develop personal and social responsibility by engaging in real-world challenges, and develop skills that will encourage and facilitate life-long learning.
On satisfactory completion of this cluster course area, students will be able to:
| CLA-ILO1. | Apply critical thinking and communication skills to demonstrate an understanding of the foundations of knowledge and inquiry in creative disciplines, and the ability to integrate and apply learning to the role of creativity in problem solving, the diversity of forms of novelty, the role of social and psychological conditions under which creative solutions have emerged, and innovation in various domains; |
| CLA-ILO2. | Identify social and psychological conditions under which creative solutions have emerged in specific historical and cultural contexts; |
| CLA-ILO3. | Illustrate and apply personal and social responsibility in creative and innovative contexts involving diverse communities and real-world challenges; and |
| CLA-ILO4. | Demonstrate the motivation and skills to become involved with life-long practice and learning and about creativity and innovation. |
Humanities and the Arts (CLB)
The aims of the Humanities and the Arts Cluster are to develop an understanding and appreciation of the arts in a broad sense and to explore works and achievements from a range of contexts and media to gain a greater understanding of forms of human expression and creativity. Courses in this cluster may examine a variety of topics across a range of domains. Students will engage with “big questions”, practice applying knowledge, intellectual and practical skills to new settings, develop personal and social responsibility by engaging in real-world challenges, and develop skills that will encourage and facilitate life-long learning.
On satisfactory completion of this cluster course area, students will be able to:

Management and Society (CLC)
The aims of the Management and Society Cluster are to expose students to the conditions and control in organisations and discuss and identify the implications of wider management issues. Students will engage with “big questions”, practice applying knowledge, intellectual and practical skills to new settings, develop personal and social responsibility by engaging in real-world challenges, and develop skills that will encourage and facilitate life-long learning.

| CLC-ILO4. | Illustrate and apply personal and social responsibility management and societal contexts involving diverse communities and real-world challenges; and |
| CLC-ILO5. | Demonstrate the motivation and skills to become involved with life-long practice and learning and about management and society. |
Science, Technology, Mathematics and Society (CLD)
The aims of the Science, Technology, Mathematics and Society Cluster are to introduce students to science, technology, or mathematics and to allow students to examine the interrelationship between science, mathematics, technology, society, and the humanities. Students will engage with “big questions”, practice applying knowledge, intellectual and practical skills to new settings, develop personal and social responsibility by engaging in real-world challenges, and develop skills that will encourage and facilitate life-long learning.
On satisfactory completion of this cluster course area, students will be able to:

| CLD-ILO3. | Demonstrate the motivation and skills to become involved with life-long practice and learning and about science, mathematics, and technology. |
Values, Cultures and Societies (CLE)
The aims of the Values, Culture and Societies Cluster are to introduce students to the knowledge and frameworks required to examine values from personal, societal and cultural perspectives. The courses will explore the complexity of human values as they affect family, work and society, particularly the changes in societies and cultures over the last 100 years. Students will engage with “big questions”, practice applying knowledge, intellectual and practical skills to new settings, develop personal and social responsibility by engaging in real-world challenges, and develop skills that will encourage and facilitate life-long learning.
On satisfactory completion of this cluster course area, students will be able to:
