Health & Insurance
Lingnan University does not impose mandatory health requirements on incoming students. However, it is advisable to check with the Hospital Authority for any recommended vaccinations prior to your arrival. For more details, please visit the Travel Health Service.
Insurance Arrangements
Lingnan strongly recommends that all incoming students obtain suitable and adequate insurance covering:
- Travel
- Personal accidents
- Medical expenses (accident and non-accident)
- Hospitalization
- Emergency evacuation/repatriation
You are required to provide proof of your insurance coverage before your arrival for record-keeping purposes. If you fail to secure adequate travel and medical coverage, you will bear all associated risks and consequences. Lingnan is not responsible for any issues that may arise before, during, or after your exchange period.
Student Medical Benefits Scheme
The Student Medical Benefits Scheme covers:
- General doctor consultations, including prescriptions and necessary laboratory tests (with referral letters).
- Eligible students can visit designated out-patient clinics across Hong Kong (including Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories, and Outlying Islands) for a nominal fee.
To use this service, present your valid Lingnan Student Card at the time of treatment. The nominal fee covers medications as well. You can also receive simple laboratory and X-ray tests with a referral letter from a doctor.
Note: If you have ongoing prescription drug needs, bring an ample supply of your medication or check its availability in Hong Kong. Ensure you have both the brand name and the chemical/generic name of the medication, along with a copy of your prescription.
Student Dental Scheme
The Student Dental Scheme provides eligible students with dental treatment at nominal fees. A preferential rate is available for additional dental services.
Always present your valid Lingnan Student Card before receiving dental treatment; otherwise, you will be charged the original price. Check with clinic staff regarding your eligibility prior to consultation.
