Prof. Huajun Chen

Professor, Zhejiang University

Huajun Chen is a full professor and Qiushi Distinguished Researcher at the College of Computer Science and Technology, Zhejiang University. His research interests lie in Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Graphs, Natural Language Processing, and AI for Science. Dr. Chen has contributed to a wide range of publications in leading international conferences and journals, including Nature Machine Intelligence, Nature Communications, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, IJCAI, AAAI, ACL, EMNLP, WWW, KDD, VLDB, ICDE, SIGIR, IEEE TKDE, and Proceedings of the IEEE. As the founding leader of OpenKG, he has made key contributions to advancing the field of knowledge graphs both in China and internationally. Dr. Chen is also the Director of the Zhejiang University-Ant Group Joint Research Center for Knowledge Graphs and the Zhejiang University-Alibaba Group Joint Lab for Knowledge Engine. Previously, he served as Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier's Journal of Big Data Research. He holds several academic and professional roles, including Vice President of the Zhejiang Province Digital Intelligence Technology Association, Deputy Director of the Knowledge Engineering Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, and Deputy Director of the Language and Knowledge Computing Committee of the Chinese Information Processing Society. Dr. Chen has been recognized among Stanford's top 2% of the most-cited scientists globally and has received several prestigious awards, including best paper awards at the International Joint Conferences on Knowledge Graphs and the International Semantic Web Conference, as well as China's National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Prof. Eduardo Gill-Pedro

Associate Professor, Lund University

Eduardo Gill-Pedro is Associate Professor in EU law and Associate Senior Lecturer in Law and AI at the Faculty of Law, Lund University. He is currently conducting a research project on AI governance, with a specific focus on the role of companies as agents of AI governance. Until January 2024 he was a Ragnar Söderberg Senior Research Fellow, conducting a research project focused on the fundamental rights of companies in European law. He has an interest in legal theory, especially on the relationship between legal rights and democracy, between transnational and national legal orders, and between private actors and public law norms.
Eduardo has an LL.B from the University of Essex, an LL.M from Stockholm University and an LL.D from Lund University, and is a (non-practicing) member of the Bar of England and Wales.

Assistant Professor, Department of Legal Studies, University of Bologna

Federico Galli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Legal Studies at the University of Bologna. His research focuses on Law & Technology, including the governance and regulation of AI, privacy and data protection, and digital markets and services. He also works in the field of AI & Law, covering topics such as argument mining, predictive justice, and large language models (LLMs) for legal applications.
He has published extensively in both national and international journals and is currently involved in several projects addressing the legal and ethical aspects of computation and legal informatics.

Dr. Andrés Domínguez Hernández

Ethics Fellow, The Alan Turing Institute

Dr Andrés Domínguez Hernández is an Ethics Fellow in the Public Policy Programme at The Alan Turing Institute and a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Digital Environment Research Institute at Queen Mary University of London. He is an interdisciplinary scholar studying the ethical, social, and material implications of data-driven innovations, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, internet of things and sensor networks.
Andrés has a background in Science and Technology Studies (STS), Innovation Management, and Engineering. He has built a track record of collaboration with engineers, computer scientists, designers, practitioners, and civil society organisations. Prior to joining the Alan Turing Institute, he was as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol’s School of Computer Science, where he led research on responsible, ethical, and inclusive innovation at a UKRI research centre focused on addressing online harm. He has provided expert policy advice and leadership on digital rights and innovation strategy and was previously Director of Technology Transfer at Ecuador’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Andrés specialises in issues of power, empowerment, responsibility, (in)justice, and future-making in relation to technological innovation. His work contributes to public participation in science and technology, governance of emerging technologies, and responsible innovation practices. His research has been published in social science, computer science, and interdisciplinary journals, including Science, Technology and Human Values, Journal of Responsible Innovation, ACM FAccT, CSCW, among others.

Dr. Andrés Domínguez Hernández

Prof. Minlie Huang

Professor, Tsinghua University

Dr. Minlie Huang, professor of Tsinghua University, the deputy director of the Foundation Model Center of Tsinghua University. He was supported by National Distinguished Young Scholar project. He won several awards in Chinese AI and information processing societies, including Wuwenjun Award and Qianweichang Award. His research fields include large-scale language models, dialogue systems, and language generation. He authored a Chinese book "Modern Natural Language Generation". He published more than 150 papers in premier conferences and journals, with more than 22,000 citations, and was selected as Elsevier China's Highly Cited Scholars since 2022 and the AI 2000 list of the world's most influential AI scholars since 2020; He has won several best papers or nominations at major international conferences (IJCAI, ACL, SIGDIAL, NLPCC, etc.). He led the development of several pretrained models including CDial-GPT, EVA, OPD, CPM, CharacterGLM. He serves as associate editors for TNNLS, TACL, CL, and TBD, and has served as the senior area chair of ACL/EMNLP/IJCAI/AAAI for more than 10 times. Dr. Atoosa Kasirzadeh

Visiting Research Scientist, Google

Atoosa Kasirzadeh is a philosopher and AI researcher. She is a visiting research scientist at Google and a 2024 Schmidt Sciences early career fellow. In December 2024, Atoosa will start as an assistant professor (affilitated with both philosophy & software and societal systems departments) at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to this, she was a chancellor’s fellow and the director of research at the Centre for Technomoral Futures at the University of Edinburgh, a research lead at the Alan Turing Institute, a DCMS/UKRI senior policy fellow, a governance of AI fellow in Oxford, and a student researcher at Google DeepMind. She has a Ph.D. in philosophy of science and technology from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in mathematics (Operations Research) from the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal. Her research uses quantitative, qualitative, and philosophical methods to explore a range of questions about the societal impacts, governance, and future of AI and computational sciences. Atoosa’s work has been covered in the popular press including The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, and TechCrunch.

Global AI Ethics and Regulatory Leader, Ernst & Young

Dr. Ansgar Koene is Global AI Ethics and Regulatory Leader at EY (Ernst & Young) where he leads the AI related public policy team and contributes to the work on AI governance and EY’s Trusted AI framework. As part of this work, he represents EY at the OECD Working Party on AI Governance and the Business at OECD Committee on Digital Economic Policy (BIAC CDEP) and is part of the consultative group of experts advising the UN Secretary-General’s 'High-Level Advisory Body on AI'.
Ansgar chaired the IEEE P7003 Standard for Algorithmic Bias Considerations working group and is a co-convener for the European standards body (CEN-CENELEC JTC21) “AI” committee’s work on AI conformity assessment. He is a trustee for the 5Rights foundation for the Rights of Young People Online, advises on AI and Data Ethics for the pan-African NGO AfroLeadership, and is part of the SteerCo of the International Observatory on Information Democracy and the EU-funded research project on Fairness and Intersectional Non-Discrimination in Human Recommendation (FINDHR).
Ansgar has a multi-disciplinary research background, having worked and published on topics ranging from Policy and Governance of Algorithmic Systems (AI), data-privacy, AI Ethics, AI Standards, bio-inspired Robotics, AI and Computational Neuroscience to experimental Human Behaviour/Perception studies. He holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Computational Neuroscience.

Jonathan Stray is a Senior Scientist at the Center for Human-compatible AI at UC Berkeley, where he works on the design of AI-driven media with a particular interest in well-being and conflict. Previously, he taught the dual masters degree in computer science and journalism at Columbia University, worked as an editor at the Associated Press, and built document mining software for investigative journalism.

EU Research Lead, the Future of Life Institute in Brussels

Risto Uuk is the EU Research Lead at the Future of Life Institute in Brussels, spearheading research efforts on EU AI policy to maximize the societal benefits of increasingly powerful AI systems. He is also a PhD Researcher at KU Leuven, where he researches the assessment and mitigation of systemic risks posed by general-purpose AI. Finally, he runs the biweekly EU AI Act Newsletter with over 30,000 subscribers, and has set up a website that is one of the top hits if you search for the AI Act. Previously, he worked for the World Economic Forum on a project about positive AI economic futures together with Stuart Russell, Daniel Susskind and others, and did research for the European Commission on trustworthy AI. He completed a master’s degree in Philosophy and Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Dr. Jindong Wang currently works at Microsoft Research Asia as a Senior Researcher and will join William & Mary as a tenure-track assistant professor in 2025. He obtained his Ph.D from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2019 with the excellent PhD thesis award. His research interest includes machine learning, large language models, and AI for social science. He has published over 50 papers with 14000+ citations at leading conferences and journals such as ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, TPAMI, IJCV etc. His research is reported by Forbes, MIT Technology Review, and other international media. He was selected by Stanford University as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists and one of the AI Most Influential Scholars by AMiner. He has several Google scholar highly cited papers, Huggingface featured papers, and paperdigest most influential papers. He serves as the associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS), guest editor for ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology (TIST), area chair for NeurIPS, ICLR, KDD, ACMMM, and ACML, senior program committee member of IJCAI and AAAI. He leads several impactful open-source projects, including transferlearning, PromptBench, torchSSL, USB, personalizedFL, and robustlearn, which received over 16K stars on Github. Prof Xin YAO is the Vice-President (Research and Innovations) and the Tong Tin Sun Chair Professor of Machine Learning at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. Previously, he held academic positions at the Southern University of Science and Technology (China), the University of Birmingham (UK), Australian Defence Force Academy at the University of New South Wales (Australia), and the University of Science and Technology of China (China). Prof Yao was elected as an IEEE Fellow in 2003 and served as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation in 2003-08 and the President of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society in 2014-15. He won the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2012, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Evolutionary Computation Pioneer Award in 2013, and the prestigious IEEE Frank Rosenblatt Award in 2020. He was listed in World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University since 2021 and named Highly Cited Researcher in 2022 and 2023. According to Google Scholar, his research has been cited over 76,000 times by other scholars, with an H-index of 126.

Professor, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Yi Zeng is a Professor from Chinese Academy of Sciences, serving as the Director at the Brain-Inspired Cognitive Intelligence Lab, and the International Research Center for AI Ethics and Governance. He is the founding director of Center for Long-Term AI, and the Beijing Institute of AI Safety and Governance. He is a member of the United Nations High-Level Advisory Body on AI. He is also an expert in the UNESCO Ad Hoc Expert Group on AI Ethics, an expert in the WHO Expert Group on the Ethics/Governance of Artificial Intelligence for Health, and a board member of the National Governance Committee of Next Generation Artificial Intelligence in China. He has briefed at the UN Security Council (9381st Meeting) on AI for International Peace and Security and been listed as one of the TIME 100 Most Influential People in Artificial Intelligence (TIME100/AI). His major research interests focus on Brain-inspired Artificial Intelligence, AI Ethics and Governance, AI Safety, AI for international peace and security, and AI for sustainable development.
