The relevancy of a translation degree in the AI era

In the era of AI, how is translation studies relevant? Prof. Wang Binhua from our department recently spoke to the Hong Kong Economic Times about how the department is proactively transforming to boost students’ employability.

“In universities we are embracing and leveraging AI technology. Our role is to nurture a new generation of talent with expertise in languages, culture, and AI. To lead this shift, Lingnan has launched cutting-edge courses like Computer-aided Translation and Translation and AI Industries, and we aim to strike a balance between the responsible use of AI (technical application, ethics, regulation, and data protection) and the core skills in humanities and in the profession that no machine can replicate.”
