I would like to express my gratitude to the faculty members and staff in the Department of Visual Studies. Throughout my bachelor’s degree studies, they provided me with endless support and opportunities that paved the way for me to achieve my personal goals and foster my growth.

“What is art?” has perhaps been an important and contentious question for people studying the art-related subject. I am grateful for the programme’s diverse range of art history-related courses that provided me with a solid foundation. I particularly enjoyed the philosophical elements included in the courses “Philosophy of Visual Arts” and “Western Art Since 1960”. These courses have equipped me to make informed judgements and articulate reasons for this intrinsic question.

Apart from academic studies, I gained valuable opportunities to be a student research helper for formal research projects. It was rewarding experience to apply the theories and concepts I had learned in classes and deepen my understanding of related topics. Furthermore, the courses have established my skills relevant to the art business and marketing industry. The courses in this programme delivered timeless theories that are transferable for me to work in art fairs, galleries, and content creation.

My time in the Department of Visual Studies from 2018 to 2022 was a fruitful journey.
