My internship at the Asia Society Hong Kong was a valuable experience. Throughout my time there, I was involved in the entire exhibition process, from planning to execution, and gained practical experience in logistics, guiding tours, and installation. I also participated in Art Basel during Hong Kong's Art Month, learning how exhibitions and related events engage diverse audiences.

During my internship at CYS, I had the privilege of de-installing the exhibition Perceiving Things, and of taking a leading role in the installation, opening, and associated educational programming of Celadon Gleam, Lacquer Shadow. These experiences allowed me to translate theoretical knowledge of collections management into rigorous practice while attaining an in-depth understanding of the social responsibilities incumbent upon the modern museum. I am sincerely grateful to the Curating and Art History programme at Lingnan University and to CYS for this invaluable opportunity.

During my internship at the Curatorial Research Department of CAFAM, I was privileged to actively participate in the preparation of the “Interflowing Artscapes—CAFAM International Exchange Research Exhibition from the Collection “. My responsibilities included literature review, exhibition label writing, and exhibition implementation. Through this practical experience, I systematically learned about the construction of exhibition narratives and spatial logic. This experience profoundly deepened my understanding of the museum's role as a space for knowledge production. I sincerely appreciate Lingnan University and CAFAM for providing this valuable practical opportunity.

Zhejiang University Museum of Archaeology and Art
The Zhejiang University Museum of Archaeology and Art is a national First-class Museum that provides high-quality exhibitions and academic resources for both universities and the public. During a three-month internship from April to July, I was involved in the curation and daily operations of the museum, gaining an understanding of the concept of 'museum as an educational space.' This experience allowed me to translate the theories learned in the MACAH program into practice, resulting in a highly enriching learning journey.

One of the key reasons I was drawn to apply for the internship at the HKAC was my appreciation for the institution’s unwavering commitment to integrating art into everyday life. After joining the HKAC, I got to understand more that the HKAC operates as an independent non-profit organisation, diligently seeking to sustain and develop its programmes through diverse revenues. Its self-sufficiency empowers the organisation with greater autonomy in designing and planning its programmes and activities. This autonomy, in turn, fosters an environment conducive to creativity and innovation. Consequently, the rapport between the visual artists and the team at the HKAC is notably positive—a dynamic that I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of during my internship. Besides, the internship has offered me a unique opportunity to learn, ask questions, and make mistakes, while also allowing me to gain genuine insights and analyse situations from the perspectives of both a curator and an observer. This invaluable experience has played a crucial role in shaping my understanding and will definitely benefit my practice of curating in the future.

The internship experience at CYS Exhibition Hall is a valuable learning and growth opportunity for me. During this time, I not only learnt a lot of professional knowledge about exhibition planning and management, but also experienced first-hand the interaction between art and the public, which gave me a deeper understanding of art communication. During the internship, I was involved in the preparation of the workshop, from the pre-preparation to the end of the event, every part of the process needs to be considered in advance, and I realised that, as a member of CYS Hall, our duty is not only to display the artworks, but also to build up a bridge between the art and the audience, so that the art can really come into people's lives. Through this internship, I have become clearer about my career direction. I realise that whether I continue to work in the art field in the future or not, this experience will have a profound impact on me. It has taught me how to observe meticulously, how to communicate effectively, and how to function in a team. I see these invaluable experiences as stepping stones in my career, and I believe they will continue to guide me in my future studies and work.

Reflecting on my internship at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, I am grateful for the valuable experience and opportunities that it has provided me in pursuing my career goal of working in the arts. Specifically, I gained hands-on experience in exhibition design and curation as well as conducting docent tours to engaging with visitors and sharing my knowledge about the artwork. Working with the Asia Society Gallery team, I was involved in different tasks on documenting exhibition installations, conducting research, and writing creative social media posts to engage with our guests on different platforms. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work as a docent which allowed me to communicate with the visitors and apply the learning practice theories I learned for conducting interactive docent tours. The more I devote to the internship program, the more skills I gained.

I wish to be a curator to create shows or exhibitions that bring meaning to visitors. The internship at ASHK it helped me to get a better understanding of the operation of the gallery. Through my time at ASHK, I saw how it involved the community, such as engaging the local community and creating public art. What surprised me about working t ASHK is the diversity of the audience group and how ASHK is trying to involve students from different grades in coming to visit their exhibitions.

Learning and Community Team
CHAT (Center of Heritage, Arts and Textile)
In this summer, I had my internship experience in CHAT. It was such a valuable opportunity for me to join the Learning and Community team during the two-months internship. My role in the team is to provide support to learning and community events, handle archival material and assist administrative tasks. Especially, providing on-site support in the interactive space is also one of my major responsibilities during the internship. From 1 May to 5 August 2021, CHAT has organized an exhibition to explore the common thread of code, textile and care, Interweaving Poetic Code. In coincide with the exhibition, an international discussion forum, participatory installations, workshops and performances were held. A gallery was also transformed into an interactive learning space, called the Unlearning Space, to allow visitors to experience a series of hand-on activities which aim to deliver the message of a decentralized and reciprocal process of co-learning and co-existing with our surroundings and communities. This is also where I got to build up a relationship with all the visitors during my duty.
Other than some practical art administration skills that I could obtain, I could also deepen my understanding of the theories learnt from the lesson with my experience in the interactive space. For certain, lectures in school deliver the ideal theoretical framework for us to picture being a curator or a museum educator. Interacting with the visitors gave me many profound moments to think of the meaning behind museum learning, the importance of the leadership and what the obstacles are for being a curator or a museum educator. For instance, the Participatory Museum proposed by Nina Simon offers us a great picture of how museum could achieve the highest level of interaction. Yet, factors like the action of different staff, the cultural background of visitors could also vary visitors’ experience and learning outcome. Perhaps, these are not obstacles but a chance for us to keep improving the education of a museum. As I want to develop my career in the arts and cultural field in Hong Kong, insights gained from these experiences lead me to look into future not only locally but also globally. Time flies in a blink of an eye. I wish I could experience and obtain even more in this internship. Still, it is a milestone for me to begin my road of the arts and culture.
