The new Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Global Economics and Banking (BSSGEB) Programme is designed for highly motivated students who aspire to pursue a dynamic career in the banking and finance industries especially in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) of Mainland China. Hong Kong is a leading international financial centre with close economic and financial integration with Mainland China. Many of the world’s top banks and financial institutions operate their businesses in Hong Kong and many banking and finance professionals develop their careers here. Our BSSGEB Programme aims to nurture young banking and finance professionals to meet the growing manpower and expertise needs of the financial service sector in Hong Kong as well as the GBA.

The Department of Economics offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the areas of economics, banking and finance with a team of dedicated academics. Lingnan University is best known for its liberal arts education, and the BSSGEB Programme is specially designed to provide a broad-based cross-disciplinary curriculum to nurture the whole-person growth of students, and a specialization in global economics and banking to prepare students for their career and further study pursuits. In addition to academic and practical knowledge and classroom teaching, students will have plenty of opportunities to participate in various co-curricular and practical learning activities to gain hands-on experiences and practical exposures to the banking and finance industries in Hong Kong and the GBA. The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Global Economics and Banking (BSSGEB) Programme is a new self-financed undergraduate programme offered by the Department of Economics to nurture young international-minded banking and finance professionals to pursue a dynamic career in the financial service sector especially in Hong Kong and the GBA of Mainland China. The programme is very well-designed and nicely balanced. It provides a broad-based and cross-disciplinary curriculum with a specialization in global economics and banking to nurture students’ all-round growth as well as expertise talents in global economics and banking required for their career success as well as other academic and personal developments in a fast-changing economy with rapid advances in information and creative technologies.

The banking and finance career in Hong Kong is by nature and scope very professional and international these days. The BSSGEB Programme is specially designed to provide students with a solid academic and practical training in economics and banking with a strong international mind. In addition to the practical and experiential learning activities offered in this programme, e.g., the Mainland Experiential Learning and Workshops, students will have the opportunity to join the Student Exchange Programme to study in one of Lingnan University’s partner institutions in the overseas or Mainland China. Students will also have plenty of opportunities to develop their generic and soft skills and all-round potentials here through the various service and experiential learning activities and a rich campus life offered together by other units of the University.
