Upon graduation, as the opportunity arose, I began my journey in the field of education. A year later, I enrolled in the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Postgraduate Diploma of Education programme. Today, I am teaching English in a secondary school.

When I was an undergraduate student, the department offered myriad opportunities for us to further our competence in English. I truly enjoyed my exchange in Leeds. I made some new friends, was educated and cultured in a foreign background, and—most importantly—advanced myself in the English language.

I appreciate that the department offers both literary and linguistics courses to its students. I was not a big fan of literary works before I took some of the literary courses. After taking them, not only did it clear my bias, but I also started to become appreciative of the works.

Thanks to the department, I have learnt a great many things during my time as an undergraduate. My advice to you is to never say no when an opportunity arises.
