[Monad 101] in Hong Kong - A Guide for Developers
On the evening of September 10, 2024, over 30 students from Master of Science in Data Science Programme and Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics Programme at Lingnan University visited the AWS Hong Kong Office to participate in the [Monad 101] Blockchain Seminar.
Monad is a high-performance, Ethereum-compatible Layer 1 blockchain platform that emphasizes the concept of parallel EVM. By leveraging parallel processing technology, it enhances network execution efficiency, achieving a throughput of 10,000 transactions per second. This balances decentralization and scalability, unlocking the potential of the EVM ecosystem.
The first part of the event was led by Kevin Galler, Head of Developer Relations at Monad. He introduced the unique aspects of Monad, explained why they chose Layer 1, and introduced MonadBFT and its operation. Additionally, Mr. Galler compared Monad with other EVM platforms, highlighting Monad’s significant advantages, particularly the low hardware resource requirements of Monad DB. He emphasized that Monad DB does not demand high machine performance, and even a moderately configured PC in a typical home environment can easily meet its operational needs. This greatly broadens the scope of technology adoption and application. Furthermore, he revealed how Monad significantly accelerates transaction processing through parallel computing, and detailed the principles and mechanisms behind it, giving the students a more intuitive and profound understanding of Monad’s technical depth and potential.
In the second part of the event, Kevin McCordic, Head of Growth at Monad, delved into the development trends of the Monad ecosystem. Before the launch of the testnet, hundreds of projects had already committed to launching on Monad. He detailed how the Monad team achieved this goal and introduced the development process, current status, and future prospects of these projects. Mr. McCordic’s presentation not only showcased the strong appeal and vitality of the Monad ecosystem but also provided valuable insights into blockchain project ecosystem construction and management.
The third part of the event focused on community introduction. The Monad community is a hot topic. The Monad team explained how they built such a strong community and why they held community-driven offline events globally before the product launch. The power and engagement of the community can bring greater success to the product. Joining the Monad community means becoming part of this vibrant and innovative group, collectively driving future development.
The AMA session provided a valuable platform for participants to engage deeply with the Monad team. The audience eagerly asked questions covering the latest advancements in Monad technology, future development plans, specific strategies for ecosystem construction, and how to better participate in and support the Monad project.

The event concluded with a free exchange session. All participants seized this rare opportunity to engage in face-to-face discussions with the Monad team, industry experts, and professors, sharing their experiences and insights.
Through the “Monad 101 Hong Kong Seminar – Developer’s Guide” event, students not only explored the mysteries of the cutting-edge blockchain technology of Monad, appreciating its unique technical architecture and innovative advantages, but also broadened their horizons and stimulated innovative thinking through direct interactions with the Monad team and industry experts. Many expressed that this event not only deepened their understanding of blockchain technology but also sparked a strong interest and desire to explore the field of intelligent business applications.
