Finding Purpose Through Learning and Experience

My journey at Lingnan University has been filled with learning, growth, and meaningful experiences that have shaped both my academic and personal development. As a student from a different background, studying alongside classmates from various cultures allowed me to broaden my perspective and better understand the complexities of cities, governance, and sustainable development.

The highlight of my time at Lingnan was undoubtedly the field trips. Visiting different locations and observing real-world urban and environmental initiatives brought classroom concepts to life. The knowledge I gained during these trips perfectly aligned with my expectations when I chose this programme. Witnessing theories applied in practice deepened my understanding and made learning more engaging and impactful.

This past year has transformed the way I think about challenges and opportunities in society. The programme encouraged me to analyse issues critically, appreciate different viewpoints, and develop practical approaches to problem-solving. Beyond academics, interacting with professors and fellow students helped me build confidence, strengthen my communication skills, and create friendships that I will cherish for years to come.

My advice to incoming students is to embrace every opportunity that comes your way. Attend events, participate in discussions, and especially take part in field trips and activities beyond the classroom. Some of the most valuable lessons are learned and memories are gained from experiences outside lectures. Stay curious, stay open-minded, and make the most of your time at Lingnan.
