Lingnan University Delegation Visits Three Universities in Taiwan for Research Collaboration and Student Exchange Programmes

A five-member delegation from Lingnan University, led by Vice-President and Dean of School of Graduate Studies, Prof Ka Ho Mok paid a working visit to three Institutions in Taiwan from 27-30 April 2023 for various strategic collaborations and events. The delegation from Lingnan University included Prof Yung Yang, Prof Maggie Lau, Prof Baohua Yu and Prof Padmore Adusei Amoah. The three institutions visited were the National Taiwan University (NTU), National Chengchi University (NCCU) and National Chung Cheng University (CCU).

 

At NTU, a PhD exchange agreement was signed with the College of Social Sciences, represented by the Dean, Prof Hungdah Su. Prof Su expressed his gratitude and excitement to work together, given the long history and expertise of Lingnan University. Following the signing of the agreement, a workshop was held for some postgraduate students of NTU during, which Prof Mok and the delegation from Lingnan University shared the postgraduate studies experience and opportunities at Lingnan with the students.  

 

The Lingnan delegation also joined a half-day joint workshop co-organised by College of Education of NCCU and School of Graduate Studies, under the theme: The Impact of Regional Development and Social Policy on Higher Education. The workshop entailed stimulating cross-disciplinary presentations followed by highly engaging discussions among participants were affiliated with five institutions.

 

On 29 April 2023, the Lingnan delegation visited the College of Education of CCU where an agreement for student exchange between the Institute of Adult and Continuing Education and the MScoSc Organisational Psychology and Education Management programme of the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University was signed. Prof Ka Ho Mok and Prof Hao Feng-Ming (Vice President of CCU) were pleased with the opportunity for the two institutions to work together as Taiwan and Hong Kong share common societal problems such as ageing populations. The signing ceremony was followed by a fruitful research collaboration meeting. Common research projects such as ageing and society, dementia literacy research and cross-generational education research were identified. Additionally, a potential theme for an academic conference was developed. It is expected that a conference co-organised by CCU and the School of Graduate studies will be held in Hong Kong soon as part of the collaboration.
