Lingnan University Visited Shandong Women's University

Dr Edward Ameyaw and Dr Chloe Siu from the School of Graduate Studies, Lingnan University, visited Shandong Women's University from 5 to 7 July, 2025. The purpose of this exchange was to promote in-depth dialogue on educational philosophy, teaching, and academic research between Shandong Women's University and Lingnan University. Additionally, the visit aimed to strengthen professional collaboration among faculty members, broaden students' academic horizons, and foster inter-university cooperation.

 

The team visited the research centres and engaged in discussions with professors from the School of Health and Elderly Care, and promoted the three health programmes: Master of Science Program in Smart Ageing and Gerontology, Master of Science in Health Analytics and Management, and Master of Social Sciences in Health and Social Services Management to the faculty and students. Dr Edward Ameyaw presented his research titled "Impact of COVID-19 on Health Systems and Healthcare Delivery in High-Income Countries: A Systematic Review". He emphasised the need for future research to focus on specific factors such as personnel and resource management in hospitals to bolster health systems' resilience against future pandemics. Dr Chloe Siu presented on the topic "Transformative Learning Experiences for Better Understanding Gerontechnology: Insights from Lingnan University", sharing unique teaching and learning experiences in the field of gerontechnology and highlighting the importance of talent development in preparing for societal aging challenges.

 

The Lingnan team explored future collaboration opportunities with Shandong Women's University in the areas of gerontechnology education and promotion, student learning, and academic development through joint collaboration. The team also visited various eldercare sectors in Jinan, including the Silver Economic Centre and Taikang Home, and to exchange views on elderly care services and the development of the silver economy in both regions.
