Advancing the Silver Economy: Lingnan University joined the “Co-Creating the Future of Ageing” Forum

The School of Graduate Studies at Lingnan University participated in the “Co-Creating the Future of Ageing” Forum, held on 2 August 2025, and organised by the Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions. Dr Chloe Siu, Senior Lecturer of the School of Graduate Studies, was invited to join in the panel session on silver productivity, where she shared valuable insights and overseas research on senior workers in job markets.

In recent years, the Hong Kong SAR Government has actively promoted the development of the Silver Economy, recognising the importance of empowering older adults to remain engaged and productive. One of its key initiatives, Silver Productivity, aims to support older adults in re-entering or continuing in the workforce, enabling them to contribute their skills and experience to society.

The forum brought together stakeholders from various sectors to explore strategies for advancing the silver economy. It was an inspiring exchange of ideas and a meaningful step toward building a more inclusive and age-friendly society.

The School of Graduate Studies also invited master's students from health-related programmes to attend, providing them with a valuable opportunity to engage with community issues and interact with senior citizens.

It was heartening to see many community seniors actively participating in the discussions, offering their perspectives and sharing their lived experiences, highlighting the vibrancy and wisdom of the ageing population. The event fostered intergenerational dialogue and laid the groundwork for a more inclusive future.
