Lingnan University’s School of Graduate Studies Participates in International Conference at Shandong Women’s University to Explore Care and Services for Dementia
To address the development of dementia care and service systems in the context of population ageing, Lingnan University (Lingnan)’s School of Graduate Studies (GS) participated in the international conference organised by Shandong Women’s University on 13-14 December 2025, and delivered academic presentations, as well as explored various global service models to respond to the challenges of an ageing population.
Prof Padmore Adusei Amoah, Assistant Professor from the GS at Lingnan, presented on “A Feasibility Study on the Efficacy of a VR-based Mindfulness Intervention for Dementia Caregivers in the Home Environment”. He shared the design of a pilot randomised controlled trial, inspiring conference participants on integrating research into practical service delivery. In addition, Dr Chloe Siu Pui-yee, Senior Lecturer from the GS, delivered a presentation on reminiscence therapy and the application of gerontechnology. She showcased an outstanding product — a picture book designed for home-based reminiscence training, which was designed by Miss Huang Huanhuan, a student from GS’ Master of Science in Smart Ageing and Gerontology programme. The product previously obtained the second runner-up award at the Gerontechnology Competition hosted by Lingnan. Dr Siu showcased students’ innovative contributions and aimed to inspire conference participants to encourage young people to develop creative solutions for the needs of the ageing society.
Beyond academic presentations, Prof Amoah and Dr Siu were invited to deliver promotional talks to over 100 undergraduate students at Shandong Women’s University on 14 December, introducing the taught postgraduate programmes offered by Lingnan’s GS. The sessions aimed to enhance young participants’ understanding of teaching and learning at Lingnan, while encouraging the younger generation to pursue innovation, research, and long-term planning for whole-person development.
