The School of Graduate Studies at Lingnan participates in the “Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2026” event

The School of Graduate Studies (GS) at Lingnan University (Lingnan) was invited to participate in the “Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2026” event on 19 May 2026 to learn about accessibility promotion initiatives, gain insights into how enterprises advance digital inclusion, and foster an equitable culture of diversity and inclusion.

Students and lecturers from the Master of Social Sciences in Health and Social Services Management (MHSM), the Master of Science in Health Analytics and Management (HAM), and the Master of Science in Smart Ageing and Gerontology (SAG) programmes offered by the GS attended the event. The students were deeply inspired and recognised that technology plays a crucial role in helping persons with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals overcome barriers. Liang Jinting, a student from the SAG programme, shared that, “The event made me deeply realise that barriers arise not from individuals, but from environments that lack inclusiveness. Any one of us could become someone who needs to be seen. Every focus on accessibility paves the way for a fairer future.”

In addition to students and teachers from the GS, Lingnan’s gerontech ambassadors (elderly ambassadors) also joined the event. Through intergenerational interactions, participants gained a better understanding of the needs of different age groups in the service sector. Dr Chloe Siu Pui-yee, Senior Lecturer at the GS, remarked,  “Accessible services are a global trend aimed at making technology products easier to use. This event enabled students to deepen their understanding of the health services field and highlighted the importance of cross-regional collaboration in building accessible environments, thereby improving quality of life, benefiting everyone, and promoting the realisation of an inclusive society.”
