Background

Following the positive experience with the UGC’s Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme, the MSocSci in Comparative Social Policy (International) is delighted to announce the introduction of its own ‘IMCSP Prestigious Fellowship Scheme’ for three cohorts of local students from the AY2022/23 to AY2024/25 intake.

 

The IMCSP Prestigious Fellowship Scheme is created to financially support the most deserving local students who want to pursue further studies in the critical areas of social policy, including old-age pensions, welfare policy, public support for children and families, employment, and life-long learning. Students interested indeepening their understanding in the related areas of health, well-being, social care, housing, and urban planning are also welcome to apply.

 

Number of fellowships in each cohort

This scheme is expected to provide a maximum of three fellowships in each cohort. The next deadline for applications is 31 May 2024 for September 2024 entry. 

 

Amount of fellowship

Fellowship students will be granted a 100% tuition fee waiver. However, an application fee of HK$400 will be payable upon completing an online application. The application fee is non-refundable and non-referable.

 

Criteria for selection

The IMCSP Prestigious Fellowship Scheme will adopt a merit-based approach in selecting the most deserving students to enter the IMCSP programme. In awarding individual fellowships, particular attention will be given to applicants ’previous academic achievements and explanation in their personal statementon how they plan to use the IMCSP programme to build their career in government, think tanks, NGOs, social enterprises, or to benefit the broader Hong Kong public at large. Applicants’ relevant working or volunteering experience will be a distinct advantage.

 

Applications for the IMCSP Prestigious Fellowship Scheme are only open to local Hong Kong students as defined by the Education Bureau. However, both full-time and part-time students are invited to apply.
