Biography
Kayson Lau received his bachelor's degree in Applied Social Studies from Hong Kong Metropolitan University (former The Open University of Hong Kong) in 2018. He also received M.A. in Social Policy from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2019. During 2019 – 2020, he worked as a research assistant at CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing. He then received MPhil. in Sociology and Social Policy from Lingnan University in 2022. He has received 2021/22 Hong Kong Sociological Association (HKSA) Best Thesis Award for his thesis “Aging in Place or Stuck in Place? The Aging in Place Experiences of Older Adults in a Gentrifying Neighborhood in Hong Kong”. The topic of his MPhil thesis focused on urban renewal and its impacts on ageing in place experiences of Hong Kong's older adults. Currently, he is conducting his PhD research on medicalization of aging during COVID-19. His research interests include medical sociology and Gerontology.
