Research regarding the Effectiveness of Online Cognitive Therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder

The Department of Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is conducting a research study in collaboration with the Oxford University, focusing on the effectiveness of online cognitive therapy for social anxiety disorder. We would like to invite adults with concerns on social anxiety to participate in the study. Details are as below:

 

I could be the target participant if I am:

1. 18 years old or above

2. actively experiencing symptoms of social anxiety (having the fear or anxiety of being evaluated by others in a wide range of social situations)

3. motivated to manage social anxiety now

4. able to read and understand Traditional Chinese

 

What will happen if I am interested in this study?

- You will be invited to participate in an online assessment and two zoom assessment interviews.

- If you meet our recruitment criteria, you will be able to participate in a 14-week internet therapy.

- During the treatment, there will be weekly follow-ups on the treatment progress by clinical psychologist(s) or well-trained coach(es).

- There have been preliminary positive results showing that this internet treatment is effective in reducing social anxiety, and it is free of charge.
