The Department of Accountancy is dedicated to the business of educating professional accountants with all-rounded training complemented by the distinctive liberal arts environment of Lingnan University. Building on the broad-based education at the University, students entering the Major in Accounting and Corporate Governance will go through a focused training programme in accountancy. The curriculum is designed to prepare the students to acquire the core knowledge needed to pursue the internationally recognized professional accounting designations, such as HKICPA, CPA Australia and ACCA. Through our distinctive education process, we aim to develop accounting professionals who possess the analytic, communication (both Chinese and English) and judgment skills required for a career in public accounting, industry, government and other organizations.
Major in Accounting and Corporate Governance within the BBA (Hons) Programme reflects the needs of the market place for accounting knowledge. It is recognized that one can assess the level of sophistication of an economy by examining the extent of its accounting competence in complementing the capital market. As the economy of Hong Kong becomes the international finance centre of Asia, the demand for accounting professionals with sophisticated accounting knowledge and all-rounded training has been accelerating. Graduates from the Major in Accounting and Corporate Governance are equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge in accounting to deal with the challenge of the accountancy profession in an increasingly complex business environment.
Our Department offers a wide range of core and elective accounting related subjects. We also reward students learning by granting various scholarships to outstanding accounting students.
