Hostel Residency for UG Students admitted to UGC-Funded Programmes in 2023-24 or before

Question: I am an Undergraduate (UG) student admitted to a UGC-Funded Programme in 2023-24.  Can you advise me on my eligible residency years throughout my study period in the University?

Answer:

For Local Students Admitted to 4-Year UGC-Funded Undergraduate Programmes

Local students admitted to any 4-year UGC-funded undergraduate programmes at the University in the 2023-24 academic year or before are eligible for two years of residency at the University’s student hostel.  If a student wishes to continue staying at the hostel beyond the initial two-year residency period, their applications will then be assessed through a merit-based points system that will be implemented from AY 2025-26 onwards.  Please note that students who wish to live in the student hostel must submit an application during the designated application period.  Those who do not submit a hostel application will not be considered for student hostel residence, even if they have not yet fulfilled the full 2-year residency period offered by the Hostel Residency Policy (HRP).

For Non-local Students Admitted to 4-Year UGC-Funded Undergraduate Programmes

Non-local students admitted to any 4-year UGC-funded undergraduate programmes in the 2023-24 academic year or before will have no change in their eligibility for residency at the University’s student hostel throughout their entire study period.  These non-local students remain eligible for residency at the University’s student hostel throughout their study in the University.  Please note that students who wish to live in the student hostel must submit an application during the designated application period.  Those who do not submit a hostel application will not be considered for student hostel residence, even if they have not yet fulfilled the residency period offered by the Hostel Residency Policy (HRP).

For Senior Year (SY) Students Admitted to UGC-Funded Undergraduate Programmes
