Description of the Activity

For individuals, the meaning of a place goes beyond its physicality; it also holds significance in the spiritual realm. The proposed workshop will start with Mr. Duan Yifu's "Love for the Land Complex" and Eric P. Plito's "Topophilia," then use textual examples to illustrate the disappearance of "place." It will explore how, amidst the immense changes of our time, virtuality and imagination have become the ultimate refuge for humanity, while civilization and culture are the products of this process of escape. Finally, using the novel "Submarine at Night" by Chen Chuncheng, particularly focusing on the chapter "Zhu Feng Temple," the workshop will discuss the relationship between "disappearance" and Chinese literary creation.

Speaker: Mr. Yim Hon Yam (嚴瀚欽)

Mr. Yim is a young poet who has published more than a hundred poems and won a lot of literary awards.
