Format of Play & Rules

4-Player Team Scramble
Team CompositionEach team consists of 4 players. This is a team-scoring event, only one official team score shall be recorded for each hole.
Score CalculationTeam Gross Score: Total strokes taken over 18 holes.
Tie-Breaker

In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a countback of the combined scores of the last 9 holes (Back 9). If still tied, the countback will continue to the last 6, last 3, and finally the 18th hole. 

(Players only need to record the Team Gross Score for each hole on the scorecard. The Organiser will calculate the final gross standings.)

 

Rules of Play

The tournament will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A (Royal and Ancient) and the Local Rules of The Hong Kong Golf Club. The Tournament Director shall have the final authority on all decisions.

Maximum Length of Time per Round4 hours 15 minutes. All teams must maintain a good pace of play to avoid falling behind the group ahead.
Scramble Procedures
  1. All team members tee off from their designated tee boxes. 
  2. The team selects the best tee shot. The other players pick up their balls. 
  3. The position of the selected ball must be marked with a ball marker. 
  4. Through the Green (Fairway/Rough/Hazards): Players place and play their balls within one club-length of the marker, no closer to the hole. The ball placement must not improve the original lie or line of play (e.g., if the selected ball is in a bunker, all players must play from that bunker; if behind a tree, the relief cannot be used to clear the obstruction). 
  5. On the Putting Green: Players place their balls within one putter-head length of the marker, no closer to the hole. Once any team member holes out, the team's score for that hole is locked; no further putts may be attempted. 
  6. This process is repeated for each subsequent shot until the ball is holed out.
Minimum Tee ShotsEach player’s tee shot must be used at least 3 times during the 18-hole round.

 

Individual Prizes & Novelty Challenges

All individual prizes and novelty challenges are determined by the player's tee shot only. If your tee shot exceeds the current record, move the marker to the new position and write your name.

Hole-In-One on 9th HoleThis prize applies strictly to the player's tee shot from the tee box directly into the hole. If multiple players achieve a hole-in-one, the prize will be awarded to the first achiever.
140th Anniversary Challenge on 13th HolePlayers win a small gift on-course if their tee shot exceeds 140 yards and rests on the fairway.
60th Anniversary Challenge on 12th HolePlayers win a small gift on-course if their tee shot lands and rests on the fairway or putting green within 60 yards from the pin flag.
Beat the Pro on 2nd HolePlayers win a small gift on-course if their tee shot lands and rests on the fairway or putting green and is closer to the pin than the Pro's shot.
Longest Drive for Men and Ladies on 4th and 10th HoleThe ball must rest on the fairway.
Nearest to the Pin on 5th and 17th HoleThe ball must rest on the putting green. Limit one prize per player. Please measure the distance (in cm) on the marker.
Closest to the Line on 14th and 16th HoleIn the event of a tie in perpendicular distance from the line, the longer drive from the tee box wins.
