Dr and Mrs James Tak Wu Awards for Outstanding Service 2025/26

Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science, presented the Dr and Mrs James Tak Wu Awards for Outstanding Service (“Award”) to the staff awardees during the Staff Communication Day & Staff Party on 24 April 2026. Established in 1998, the Award aims to recognise staff members and students who have consistently demonstrated outstanding services to the University and the community.

The awarded staff are as follows: 

Academic Staff Award 

Prof Sam Kwong Tak-wu, Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research), Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, J.K. Lee Chair Professor of Computational Intelligence 

Prof Kwong has demonstrated remarkable excellence in research, innovation, and leadership. He has successfully secured multiple competitive research grants and translated his research into real-world applications, evidenced by patents and award-winning innovations. Through his visionary leadership and dedicated service, he has made significant contributions to advancing postgraduate education, promoting research excellence, and driving the overall development of the University.

Administrative and General Grade Staff Award 

Ms Margaret Cheung, Registrar 

Ms Cheung has played a pivotal role in strengthening undergraduate admissions by streamlining administrative processes to better support the University’s expanding student body. Under her leadership, Lingnan has experienced a steady rise in Band A applications in JUPAS. Her implementation of AI-driven automation projects has significantly enhanced administrative efficiency, accuracy, and the overall experience for stakeholders.
