Lingnan University gives away 600 units of Lingnan’s humanitarian technology invention PureAura, improving the lives of transitional housing residents

On 17 January 2025 (Friday), Lingnan University (Lingnan) organised a special giving event at a transitional housing "Good Mansion" in Hung Hom, donating over 600 units of the humanitarian technology invention designed and developed by the Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative—PureAura mini air purifiers—to the residents of a transitional housing project run by a local NGO, SideBySide. This initiative aims to enhance the living conditions for those in need, spreading warmth and care in time for the Chinese New Year.

The 600 units of PureAura were raised through a special sale for charity during the "Kingrich Charitable Foundation presents: Lingnan University Gala Dinner 2024”. Guests at the gala, including Mr Andrew Yao, Mr Barry Law, Dr Stephen Suen, Mr Eliott Suen, Ms Fonia Wong, Mr YC Cheng and Ms Clara Chan, demonstrated their enthusiastic support by purchasing these PureAura for donation. PureAura is an original air purification solution designed specifically for subdivided flats in Hong Kong and other high-density urban environments, showcasing an integration of cutting-edge design with humanitarian care technology, and has won 14 international design awards.

Professor Lau Chi-pang, Associate Vice-President (Institutional Advancement and External Affairs) cum Director of Institutional Advancement and Public Affairs at Lingnan University, along with Mr Barry Law and a representative of Dr Stephen Suen, attended the special giving event. They also participated in an air purifier assembly workshop together with about 20 residents. Under the guidance of Mr Adrian Lo Chun-kwong, Product Design Lead of the Office of Service-Learning at Lingnan University, the residents successfully completed the assembly of the air purifiers within 10 minutes, making it very simple and easy to use.

This initiative not only enhances the living conditions of grassroots residents but also underscores Lingnan's adherence to social responsibility and modernisation, embodying the university’s motto of “Education for Service”.
