The Lingnan University History Exhibition Hall Opening cum LEO Ambassadors Appointment Ceremony, officiated by The Hon Andrew Yao Cho-fai, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Council; Dr Patrick Wong Chi-kwong, Chairman of the Court; Mr Augustine Lui Ngok-che, Chairman of the Lingnan Education Organization (LEO), and Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science, was held on 15 May 2026. 

To mark the forthcoming 60th anniversary of Lingnan University’s re-establishment in Hong Kong in 2027 and the 140th anniversary of its founding in Guangzhou in 2028, the University has officially established the new Lingnan University History Exhibition Hall on its Tuen Mun campus. The Exhibition Hall presents, through valuable archival materials and exhibits, the University’s development over a century, tracing its origins to its Guangzhou-based predecessor, the Christian College in China, founded in 1888. The exhibition offers students, alumni, and members of the public a profound understanding of Lingnan’s historical roots and educational ethos. 

In conjunction with this milestone, 45 outstanding undergraduates were appointed as LEO Ambassadors at the Ceremony, in recognition of their academic excellence, leadership qualities, and commitment to community service. Alongside receiving scholarships as encouragement, the Ambassadors shoulder the mission of upholding the spirit of liberal arts education, and actively serving the University, the LEO and the wider community. Since its launch in the 2009/10 academic year, the LEO Ambassadors Programme has appointed 421 ambassadors, nurturing a generation of student leaders dedicated to serving society.
