Lingnan University (the “University”) held the Naming Ceremony of the Tsui Leung Cho Co-studying Space on 17 November 2025 in recognition of the generous donation from a senior alumnus, Mr Tsui Leung-cho, for his support to the University Research Fund.

 

The Naming Ceremony was officiated by Mr and Mrs Tsui Leung-cho, Professor S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science, Professor Raymond Chan, Vice-President (Academics) cum Provost and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Scientific Computing, and Mr Ernest Chan, Vice-President (Administration). 

 

Mr Tsui's career exemplifies a lifelong commitment to education and service that is truly admirable. Despite being born in Hong Kong, Mr Tsui chose to pursue his education at Lingnan University in Guangzhou to honour his father’s legacy as a Lingnanian. After graduation, he dedicated himself to teaching as an Assistant Professor at his alma mater and Wuhan University. Few years later, he returned to Hong Kong and utilised his engineering expertise at the Works Bureau, making significant contributions to community development. Mr Tsui's generous contribution symbolises his enduring support for education, creating a profound impact that reflects his appreciation for every chapter of his remarkable career. 

 

Mr Tsui expressed that the establishment of the Tsui Leung Cho Co-studying Space reflects his great dedication to his alma mater and upholds the spirit of Lingnan University’s motto, "Education for service". He hopes that this Co-studying Space will provide a comfortable venue, allowing faculty and students to give back to society through knowledge and innovation exchanged in here. 

 

This generous donation will enhance the University’s research and innovation strength by funding research projects that address pressing societal challenges, recruiting internationally renowned scholars and professors, and establishing research subsidies and scholarships. 

 

The Tsui Leung Cho Co-studying Space is located on the first floor of the Lingnan Hub, serving as a community space for shared living and working, fostering close interaction between faculty and students.
