Impact of Giving

Generously funded by AR Charitable Foundation Limited, the AR Charitable Foundation Scholarship Scheme has been implemented at Lingnan University since 2013, and has become an important cradle for cultivating insurance professionals, continuously injecting fresh vitality into the industry.

The Scheme is specifically designed for undergraduate students majoring in Risk and Insurance Management at Lingnan. It not only provides sponsorships for tuition fees and the registration fees for the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) professional qualifications, but also offers valuable internship and mentorship opportunities. Additionally, it supports exceptional graduates in pursuing master's degrees at the Bayes Business School of City St George's, University of London, comprehensively enhancing their academic and professional capabilities. Since its inception, over 80 students have benefited from the Scheme, and many alumni are now contributing to the insurance industry, demonstrating excellent professional competence and leadership in various roles.

Tina Cheung, a beneficiary who graduated in 2019, reflected, “I am deeply grateful for the Foundation’s support, which allowed me to focus on my studies and experiences. While studying in London, I had the invaluable opportunity to engage with actuaries, management from international insurance firms, and students specialising in securities and investment, broadening my horizons and laying a solid foundation for my future career.” Now working as an underwriter at an international insurance company, Tina not only applies her professional expertise actively but also regularly returns to Lingnan to share her experiences with juniors, encouraging the new generation to pursue excellence.

Another scholarship recipient, Louis Wong, graduated in 2018, shared, “At Lingnan, the Foundation recommended me for a summer internship at an insurance firm, where I gained valuable work experience. The master’s scholarship enabled me to further my studies in London. Before graduation, I had already been offered a management trainee position at an international insurance company, where I have now worked for over six years. This experience has had a profound impact on my career development.”
