The University Innovation Fellows (UIF) program, run by Stanford University's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (also known as Stanford d.School), empowers students to become agents of change in their institutions. Students are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate a complex world and shape the future by addressing global challenges. Fellows also advocate for institutional change and contribute to the future of higher education.

 

The programme comprises:

  • online training provided by Stanford d.School which needs to be completed in Semester 1;
  • implementation of impactful projects on campus before the Global Meetup; and
  • participation in a Global Meetup, typically at Stanford (but could also be at other co-host institutions selected by Stanford). The Global Meetup for AY2025-26 will take place in April at the University of Twente, in the Netherlands. 

 

Eligibility for participation:

  • Passionate to drive change through innovation;
  • Full-time Lingnan undergraduate students in Years 2 to 4;
  • Not involved in any long outbound programmes (more than 14 days outside of Hong Kong) from Sep 2025 to May 2026; and
  • Has at least 2 semesters left in the study period (will not graduate before May 2026).

 

Financial support:

Upon satisfactory completion of the trainings and on-campus project execution, LEI will provide the following financial support for students to attend the Global Meetup:

  • Return flight tickets from Hong Kong to the airport nearest/most convenient to the Meetup venue;
  • Airport transfer to the Meetup venue; and
  • Accommodation during the Meetup period. 

Students will be responsible for their own travel visa (if necessary), local transportation, meals, and other personal expenses. 

A Programme Deposit of HKD5,000 will be collected by LEI from selected students at the start of the programme in Semester 1, and will be returned upon satisfactory completion of the entire programme.
