LIFE Graduation Ceremony 2023 was successfully held

Lingnan Institute of Further Education (LIFE) Graduation Ceremony 2023 was successfully held on 7 December 2023. Graduation certificates were conferred upon 504 graduates of Associate Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma and Diploma Yi Jin. Director’s Award and scholarships were also presented to outstanding students as a form of encouragement.

Prof. YU Kar Ming, Director of LIFE, delivered the welcoming address. He congratulated all the graduates, celebrated the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, and encouraged everyone to continue pursuing higher academic achievements. Professor YU used the classic songs “Wonderful Tonight” and “What a Wonderful World” to impart a heartfelt message to the graduates. He encouraged them always to remain grateful, to share love with their families and significant others, and to remember the beauty and colours of life even in times of despair, urging them to continue striving forward.

Ms. NG Sze Man, a graduate of the Diploma Yi Jin, and Mr. LAM Po Kin, Bob, a graduate of the Associate of Arts (Philosophy), delivered speeches on behalf of their fellow students. Sze Man expressed her gratitude to her teachers, classmates, and family, particularly thanking the teachers for imparting knowledge, professional skills, and learning techniques, while also teaching students to become responsible individuals who contribute to society. She quoted a popular song lyric, “誰都可發光，只要找對地方 (Anyone can shine, as long as they find the right place)”, to encourage her fellow graduates to bravely pursue their dreams.

Bob, recipient of the Director’s Award, the Lingnan Education Organization Scholarship, and the Department of Philosophy Scholarship, spoke next. He first shared the deep connections and friendships formed through the shared experiences of growth and learning with his peers. He mentioned that graduates will face numerous challenges and opportunities in the future. Bob encouraged his fellow graduates to boldly embrace these challenges and opportunities, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and determination acquired at LIFE, and with the support of their families, friends, and teachers. He concluded his speech with a piano solo, conveying his blessings and encouragement to all graduates.
