Programme Objectives

Provides relevant knowledge about psychology with a scientific analysis of mental processes and human behaviour
Equips students with ability to apply knowledge of psychology to daily life and interpersonal relationship
Prepares students for more advanced study in any area of psychology

Programme Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:

demonstrate an understanding of major concepts, theoretical perspectives, and research findings from different sub-fields in psychology;
apply psychological principles to the analysis of personal, organisational, and social issues;
identify the professional ethical issues in psychology;
demonstrate proficiency in the use of English and Chinese languages and communicate effectively for further studies or work;
apply creative problem-solving, IT applications, and critical thinking skills for handling further studies or career pursuits;and
demonstrate an understanding of cross-disciplinary knowledge and possible cross-disciplinary application.

Teaching and Learning Support

Dr. Cheung Yim from Department of Counselling and Psychology, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, was invited to hold a talk named “Psychology and counselling: AI resistant and AI irreplaceable job” and share articulation information with students of Associate of Social Sciences (Psychology) at LIFE. The students not only learnt more about psychology and counselling, but also articulation pathways.

中學畢業後，要重新整理心情確實不容易。記得當時的我不知自己未來的去向，在文憑試放榜後感到十分迷茫。但在LIFE這個知識寶庫生活兩年後，讓我重新確立自己的目標，重燃努力讀書的意志。在這段珍貴的時間中，不論是健康心理學，社會心理學，以至認知心理學及英語商務溝通等眾多科目，都令我獲益良多，能夠為未來工作打算及升學的路途做好最佳準備。此外，LIFE的導師們亦非常友善，不但願意付出他們的時間去回答學生問題，更鼓勵班上學生參與小組討論，讓大家在報告中互相認識、互相幫助，解決疑惑。雖然面前的路仍然充滿挑戰，但我相信只要持之以恆，絕不放棄，必定能成為成功的最大秘訣。

When I arrived in Hong Kong in 2005, I only knew Spanish, which made school a struggle. In the end, I completed it with passing grades. Valuable friends encouraged me to return to studying, and returning after nearly a decade was daunting. Nevertheless, my dedication, along with the incredible support from teachers and friends at LIFE, made all the difference, and my grades have immensely improved. Their guidance helped me overcome obstacles and find my footing. My time at LIFE has been deeply rewarding; I’ve genuinely loved attending classes and immersing myself in the learning process. This journey has unfolded my passion for learning and provided me with invaluable skills and insights. Returning to study has been a vital moment in my personal and academic growth, and I am profoundly grateful for every moment spent at LIFE.

首先，我要感謝老師們這一年來對我悉心的栽培。他們為我指點迷津，並與我們這群學生建立了亦師亦友的關係，我對此感激不盡。在這裡，我也擁有了豐富的校園生活，參加了許多活動，從中亦拓寬了我的視野。
同時，我亦感激支持我的家人、朋友和LIFE的職員，感謝他們對我的包容、關懷和陪伴。由於我讀了一年後就離開LIFE，我也很不捨。謝謝大家給予的建議，使我更加確認了自己的人生方向。

「心態決定境界；信念決定結果。」這是陪我渡過兩年LIFE生活的格言。還記得當初的我決心重拾學習的心態的確不易，但現今的我卻十分感謝當初的我。在LIFE的心理學課程中，不論是人類發展，社會心理學，還是認知心理學等等的科目都使我學到多元化的知識，並為我升學路上打下穩健的基礎。任教老師的態度都親切友善，很樂意回答同學提出的問題，幫同學們解開疑惑之處。未來的路雖然仍充滿挑戰及不確定性，但我相信只要堅持信念做到最好便能活得更好，達到成為心理學家或社工的目標，回饋社會。

在LIFE的兩年學習使我能夠從DSE的失利當中，重新出發並在兩年後獲取學士學位。記得當初面試的時候，LIFE的大學學習環境是我發憤圖強的原因。在這兩年的副學士課程當中，我認識到很多能夠開導我的老師，曾經有一刻學業成績低迷過，但因為修讀心理學能夠認識一班心理學的老師，他們的用心教導以及輔導讓我能夠重新出發。LIFE的小班教學使老師能夠應付每一位學生的需要，師生關係緊密。我很感激曾經幫助過我的每一位老師，現在我能夠升讀學士學位，繼續充實自己，我必須答謝在LIFE的兩年，令我能夠擁有更好的未來！
