Studying abroad has expanded my horizons as a fourth-year Chinese major at Lingnan University. At the University of Aberdeen, I took History and Political Science courses on Vikings and American Civilization, deepening my understanding of historical events and current issues like the Russo-Ukrainian war and Black Lives Matter.

Aberdeen's interactive teaching style enhanced my critical thinking, and I participated in activities like Mixed Martial Arts and Scottish dance. Making friends from diverse backgrounds significantly improved my oral communication skills and enriched my understanding of different cultures. This exchange has been a transformative experience for me.

I was honored to participate in a four-month exchange program at Kyonggi University in Korea. My time there was filled with warm memories and kindness. I took five courses, including Korean Language for Novice and Creative Problem Solving, which I particularly enjoyed due to the supportive professor who fostered a great class atmosphere.

I made friends from around the world and celebrated special occasions with them. We explored beautiful places in Korea, such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Jeju Island, creating unforgettable moments and laughter along the way.

Living in Korea for nearly five months, I immersed myself in campus life, Korean culture, and food. This experience taught me self-reliance and broadened my global perspective. I cherished every moment and am grateful to Lingnan University for this opportunity, as it enriched my life and provided precious memories that will last a lifetime.

I studied at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York, excited for the chance to explore a new culture and share my own. I enrolled in courses on Sexuality and Disability, which are rarely discussed in Hong Kong, and learned about topics like white supremacy and LGBTQ rights in a more open environment.

During my exchange, I met friends from various countries, enhancing my interpersonal skills and building a global network. I participated in university activities and shared the challenges of being an exchange student with others.

Studying in the U.S. improved my English communication skills and made me more open-minded about sensitive social issues. This experience taught me independence, as I navigated living away from home for the first time. Overall, it was an unforgettable journey that helped me grow in confidence and broaden my perspective.

Participating in the 4-week Global Citizenship through English (GCE) Online Programme at the University of British Columbia (UBC) exceeded my expectations. Despite early mornings due to the time difference with Kazakhstan, I found the experience rewarding. The program covered engaging topics like Climate Change and Food Politics, highlighting the impact of agriculture on the environment. Guest speakers shared valuable insights, inspiring me to grow my own organic vegetables.

I enjoyed exchanging cultural ideas with classmates from diverse backgrounds, which enhanced my English skills. The user-friendly e-learning platform made our work engaging, featuring interesting videos, including interviews with Ryan Reynolds.

Overall, I was proud to be part of this program, which improved my English proficiency and broadened my understanding of global issues and cultures.
