Tuition and Estimated Expenses
Generally, you will continue to pay tuition to your home institution. Other mandatory fees, such as hostel fees, will depend on the agreement between Lingnan University and your home institution.

Your actual expenses will vary based on your personal eating habits, shopping preferences, and entertainment choices. Books are typically not required in many classes, as readings are often assigned from library resources. However, it’s advisable to budget around US100 - US150 for books per term.
Currency Exchange Rate
The Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) is pegged to the U.S. Dollar (USD) at a rate of approximately HK1. Please check current exchange rates for accuracy.
Arrangements Upon Arrival
New incoming students are required to:
- Report to the Office of Global Education (OGE) upon arrival (typically one week before classes start). OGE will provide pick-up services on designated dates.
- Attend the Orientation Programme.
- Settle into student hostels.
Arrival Pick-Up Service
Pick-up services will be provided for exchange students at the following locations on designated dates:

Making Your Own Way to Lingnan
If you prefer to travel by taxi, you may show the following address to the driver, as many may not understand English:

A surcharge of HK$6 will be applied for each piece of luggage (for both red and green taxis).
Avoid "private taxis," as they are illegal and may take advantage of new arrivals.

Travel Documents
Keep these important documents with you until you arrive at Lingnan:
- Valid passport
- Student visa/entry permit from the Hong Kong Immigration Department
- Admission documentation (acceptance letter)
- Travel insurance certificate (if applicable)
