Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry into this programme, candidates should have:

• hold a relevant bachelor’s degree awarded by a tertiary education institution recognised for this purpose by the University (applicants with a non-psychology first degree have to complete a pre-entry course); or have obtained an equivalent qualification; or have provided satisfactory evidence of academic and professional attainment., which will be considered on a case-by-case basis; and

An applicant whose degree or, exceptionally, an alternative qualification deemed equivalent from a tertiary institution is not using English as the medium of instruction (MOI) for the programme in Hong Kong or an English-speaking country should fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

• a minimum score of 79 in TOEFL Internet-Based Test¹; or

• a band score of 6.0 or above in IELTS¹; or

• a minimum score of 450 or above in College English Test Band 6 (CET-6), with proof of competency in spoken English²; or

• an equivalent score in a recognised test; or

• an equivalent qualification to prove his/her English language proficiency, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

   

¹ For IELTS and TOEFL qualifications for admission purposes, the University accepts only results from a single test sitting. The test must be conducted at a recognised test centre and fall within the two-year validity period, counted from the date of submission of the  admission application for the specific intake cohort.

² For CET-6 results submitted for admission purposes, the University accepts only those obtained within the five-year validity period, counted from the date of submission of the admission application for the specific intake cohort. Applicants must also demonstrate competency in spoken English through an oral interview conducted by the Programme and/or obtain grade B or above in the CET-6 Speaking English Test.

*An Interview will be conducted if applicant is shortlisted. And applicants are required to fulfill additional requirements, if any, set by the programme.

Important Notes:

For academic qualification obtained in Mainland China. You are required to provide the online verification report of your bachelor degree certificate from the following website: https://xwrz.chsi.com.cn/gateway. You are required to submit the verification report in your online application.

Any false, unclear or misleading information and/or document(s) provided by applicants in their application will disqualify their applications or revoke their admission offers, and any fees paid, including down payment or deposit, will be forfeited. According to the laws of Hong Kong, forgery is a serious criminal offence that a convicted offender may be liable to imprisonment for fourteen years.

Supporting Documents:

Applicants should scan and submit the following documents to the Online Application System for evaluation of their applications:

• Identity documents (e.g. Identity card*, passport or other travel document)

• Official Transcript (for academic qualifications of undergraduate and/or postgraduate studies):

• An official final transcript for a completed programme

• The latest transcript if the programme is not yet completed

• An official English-translated copy must be attached if the transcript is not in English. The interpretation of grades (in English) is also required.

• Degree Certificate/Graduation Certificate/Proof of Study (as appropriate)

• Verification proof by third-party authorities (for a completed programme):

  • Online Verification Report of Higher Education Degree Certificate (中國高等教育學位在綫驗証報告), both Chinese and English versions, issued by the CHSI (中國高等教育學生信息網) for qualification(s) awarded by universities in the Chinese Mainland

  • Online Query of Overseas Credentials Evaluation Reports國(境)外學歷學位認証書 issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) (教育部留學服務中心) (applicable to applicants from the Chinese Mainland with qualifications awarded by overseas universities)

• Proof of English language proficiency, e.g. IETLS, TOEFL, CET-6 Score Report (applicable to applicants whose degree, or exceptionally, an alternative qualification deemed equivalent, was not awarded by a tertiary institution where English was used as the MOI for the degree programme)

• Personal statement

• Reference letters (if any)

*Do not upload copy of HKID. Local students will be required to present HKID for verification upon registration.

Applicants may be required to submit a Report for Qualifications Assessment issued by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to support their application.

No Dishonest and Bribery Practices

• Any false or misleading information and/or document(s) provided in the application, or any dishonest conduct observed during the application process, e.g. plagiarism, employing surrogate examination-taker, etc., will result in disqualification of application for admission, revocation of admission offer or termination of studies at the University if admitted, and any fees paid will be forfeited.

• Falsification of documents or the use of falsified documents is a very serious offence and is absolutely not tolerated by the University. According to the laws of Hong Kong, forgery is a serious criminal offence that a convicted offender may be liable to imprisonment for a maximum of 14 years.

• Applicants or their family members and agents must not offer advantages to any staff or members of the University in relation to their admission applications or while having dealings of any kind with the University. These offers may constitute an offence under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (Cap.201) in Hong Kong. The University also prohibits its staff and members from soliciting or accepting such advantages.

The system is now opening for 2026/27 January intake. The application deadline is 31 October 2026 or fully occupied, whichever is earlier.

If there is any tuition fee changed and/or admission requirements changed, you have to comply with the university and the programme regulations.

If you miss the application deadline, your application will be considered as next intake. We usually offer two intakes per year, September and January.

The applications would be considered periodically before application deadline.
