Biographical Note

Chang Nam Fung taught translation as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at the City Polytechnic of Hong Kong for seven years before joining Lingnan University, from which he retired in 2018 after 24 years of service. He obtained his B.A. and M. Phil. From the University of Hong Kong, and his Ph.D. from the University of Warwick, all in translation studies. He has translated into Chinese Oscar Wilde’s four comedies—Lady Windermere’s Fan, An Ideal Husband, A Womman of No Importance and The Importance of Being Earnest, Robert Bolt’s A Man for All Seasons, and Jonathan Lynn and Antony Jay’s Yes Prime Minister. His academic works includes three monographs—Yes Prime Manipulator: How a Chinese Translation of British Political Humour Came into BeingCriticism of Chinese and Western Translation Theories (in Chinese); and Polysystem Studies of Translation: Theory, Practice and Response (in Chinese), and a number of articles published in venues such as TargetThe TranslatorPerspectivesBabelAcross Languages and CulturesTranslation and Interpreting Studies, and the Handbook of Translation Studies. He won the Stephen C. Soong Translation Studies Memorial Award four times, and also Lingnan’s Research Excellence Award 2003-2004 and Certificate of Merit, Teaching Excellence Awards Scheme 2015/2016.
