My whole world collapsed the moment I was admitted to Lingnan, but I am grateful of being a Lingnanian until now. Lingnan has taught me how to fail and resolve, turning theories into reality, and training up myself into a servant leader.
Although I was not a good grader in my history courses, what I have learned are still impactful until now. First, I know how to serve different parts of communities as a bystander wearing on their shoes. History lessons have taught me to understand the communities with their culture, traditions, and the lens where they have been and when they have grown up, so to enable me to design and execute services meeting the needs in their hearts.
Lingnan boasts a small yet beautiful campus, complemented by kind staff and friendly classmates that surround you. I am able to find my group of friends to grow up together in and out of the books. Also, teachers in my department are generally supportive to our growth, even after graduation. It is Prof. Zhang in the department who has referred me to the master degree currently.
Although Tuen Mun may be far from the city center, it is very easy to build a network and meet inspiring friends (and mentors) both inside and outside of campus. Lingnan has organized many mentorship programs and networking sessions to help us learn from professionals and veterans in various industries. Additionally, Lingnan has provided me with many opportunities for growth in leadership and social innovation.
I began to "walk the talk" during the "Lingnan High-Flyers" programme organized by the SSC, after initially failing to advocate for ethnic minority women's empowerment in yoga with my diverse team of friends. The Counseling Team sparked my interest in advocating for mental health in Hong Kong through laughter yoga. The Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative gave me the opportunity to explore social innovation in Hong Kong by co-founding Enactus at Lingnan. The Career Team helped lift me out of my career path uncertainty and fear of unemployment when I first enrolled at Lingnan. Therefore, do not worry about studying at Lingnan. Opportunities are within your reach.
After my graduation, my relationship ties with Lingnan have never stopped. I need to thank what Lingnan has brought me from day 1 until now.
